"a view so bad, it's good. otherworldly landscapes of sepia-toned spires, buttes, and pinnacles pierce the south dakota skyline in @badlandsnps, just 90 minutes from one of the usa's most iconic sights — mount rushmore. #bdteam creator @cory.s.martin captured the wild, wild whimsy of the national park that's a favorite for adventurers, and a common pitstop on the great american road trip. planning yours? follow @visittheusa for inspiration, as they crisscross the country this year, sharing the #unitedstories that make up its unique tapestry. Who's ready for that wondrous new york winter snow? #bdteam creator @loganstrongarms captured this motion-image shot of the city's flatiron district, as the snow fell in heavy flurries like heavy, plush down. travel tip: looking for a place to warm up? head around the corner to the brooklyn roasting company — the checker-boarded floors and deep-wood colored interiors are welcome from the cold and provide the perfect spot to sip on a hot chocolate or dirty chai and watch the snow fall. American author john green once wrote, "i'm in love with cities i've never been to and people i've never met." if there was ever a city or place that rings more true with that saying, undoubtedly many could agree, the towns of cinque terre always make their viewers instantly fall head over heels. do you agree? Watching the hot air balloons rise over sleepy mornings in cappadocia is an experience that photos or videos simply don't do justice. #beautifuldestinations creator @matiasderada described seeing over 150 balloons rising above the chalky, peaked terrain as “surreal” and one for the bucket list. has this turkish destination made it on your list of travel to do’s? @shaun_jeffers captures one of nature's most mesmerizing wonders — glow-worms — scattered across the walls in small blooms and bursts of teal light in a cave in northland, new zealand. travel tip: if you are looking for a place to witness this wonder in person, new zealand is home to numerous caves and locations that can offer you a glimpse into the lives of these little, natural glow-lamps — lake karapiro, kawiti caves, and the waipu caves are just a few. The sun rises in a misty layered haze over this sprawling, brazilian beach city. known for its music, festivals, dance, beaches, and overall zest for life, the city of rio de janeiro has become an increasingly popular destination for travelers in recent years. travel tip: mix up your trip routine by swapping a day at the beach for a birdseye view of the city and some hiking instead. we recommend the "dois irmaos" — meaning the two brothers —trail. the hike to the taller of the two peaks lasts just under an hour and offers stunning views of the city, the christ statue, and sugarloaf mountain. On the northern coast of france, the dawn blooms in shades of soft, iridescent gold, and quiet peach — caressing the edge where the grassy hills meet sand and sea. (πŸ“·: @twintheworld

An undertone of summer quietly thrives in a snow dusted oregon - hidden in its mossy-carpeted peaks and tumbling waterfalls. how beautiful is this intersection of fall and winter-wonder? (πŸŽ₯: @braedin πŸ“: oregon)

@uwo gifts us a view of the candy orange-vermillion facade of san francisco's most notable icon — the golden gate bridge. it's hard to imagine the structure being any other color — but did you know at one point during construction the navy had wanted the bridge to be painted yellow and black? these colors made it easier for ships navigating the waters to more easily identify structures or obstructions in the city's notorious fog. thankfully, "international orange" — the official name of the gate's color — provides just as much visibility. we couldn't imagine it dressed any other way! "sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, and sometimes, in the middle of nowhere you find yourself." in a peaceful, unmarked forest of western massachusetts, photographer @kylefinndempsey finds a quiet moment of tranquility. often, the beginning of a new year — as refreshing as it can be — can be overwhelming as well. we can get boughed down by our goals, resolutions, and growing to-do lists. sometimes, all we truly need is a quiet moment in nature to reset and figure out our next direction. where is your favorite place to go to reflect? The sound of pigeon wings flapped above, tearing the silence of the cold morning hanging over prague as it slowly settled in a quiet mist over the city- cloaking its visitors and inhabitants traversing the cobbled streets and bridges in a sleepy haze. where is your favorite city to wander on an early morning?
