how to stop night time snacking🤷🏽‍♀️ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

1️⃣ eat a balanced diet throughout the day. if you find that you are sneaking to the cupboard for a snack at midnight, it may be a result of not eating enough during the day. make sure you’re eating meals throughout the day to keep you fuelled - i aim to get protein/fats/carbs/fibre throughout the day. if you know you are usually peckish after dinner, save a snack for after. i love strawberries as my after dinner “dessert,” protein mousse or low cal jelly 🍓 ⁣
2️⃣ stay hydrated 💦 it is not uncommon to mistake thirst for hunger. i know i get peckish if i am not drinking enough water in the day. you could also try a tea after dinner to curb cravings or a low cal/protein hot choc 🍫 ⁣
3️⃣ remove or replace snack foods in your home. in most cases, people go for carbohydrate-rich or “comfort” foods when snacking late at night. 🌟 getting rid of these types of food or replacing them with healthy options can help curb your snacking habit. “if i want something, i can have an apple.” 🍏 you may find that given the option between a piece of fruit and not having anything that you realize you aren’t actually hungry 🤭 where as if it’s oreos on the shelf - you’d probably dive straight in haha i know, i’ve been there!! 🙈 try donating any foods that you don’t feel helps you on your journey - i know nut butters are my weakness so i choose not to have them in the house 🏡 
4️⃣ distract yourself. if you get up to have a snack at midnight, stop & recognize what you are about to do - count down from 10 and slow yourself down! if you still want to hit the kitchen, try distracting yourself with another activity and then reassess if you really want a snack after 20 minutes. to distract yourself, try brushing your teeth, taking a walk, listening to soft music, reading a book or talking to family or your partner 💕 ⁣

let’s talk motivation 💪🏽 ⁣⁣⁣

one of the most common questions in my dms is “how do you stay motivated all the time?” or “how do you get motivated to go to the gym each day.” 🤔 honestly, if i was motivated 24/7 on my whole journey, i would look totally different to the way i look now 😅 ⁣⁣⁣
the truth is, you will not always be motivated, just like you won’t always have “good days.” some days you won’t want to go to the gym, netflix & comfort food is calling your name. other days you’ll wake up ready to go, full of energy wanting to lift some heavy weights! 🔥 ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
it’s not motivation that gets you to the gym each day & eating the foods that align with your goals. motivation might bring you a short sense of “go.” but it’s commitment that keeps you going even when you don’t want to 🙌🏽⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
commitment to yourself & your goals 😍⁣⁣⁣
so how do you get committed? 💭 ⁣⁣⁣
1️⃣ set goals! you need to have a clear reason for why you want to go to the gym and eat healthily. is it for a wedding? to feel good? to get into a healthy weight range as you’re overweight? to be able to run around with your kids? make the goal something that drives you 👌🏽 ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
2️⃣ create a plan as to how you will achieve that goal - the plan should have mini goals to tick off along the way. eg if i want to compete but it’s not for another year, i need mini goals along the way such as photoshoots, mini shreds, reverse diets, finding balance ☺️⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
3️⃣ get an accountability partner - this could be a family member, partner, friend or coach that supports you and reminds you why you started. someone you can check in with 💃🏽 ideally someone that is on a similar journey with you 💯 ⁣⁣⁣
when you don’t feel like doing something is when it most matters that you do it. during competition prep there were some days i was so exhausted and it would be raining but i’d still make an effort to run to the gym & k**l it 😈 ⁣⁣⁣
if you really want something, you have to make it happen. no one else can do the workouts for you or eat the foods you need to fuel your body 🍚🍌🥩🌱 ⁣⁣⁣

just incase you were scrolling mindlessly through instagram looking at all these other people thinking “wow, she looks so good” or “he has a bigger chest than me” or “their car is so sexy” 😂 what ever the comparison.. stop 🙅🏽‍♀️⁣

you are amazing!! please do not let the flexing, lighting & angles of social media convince you that you are anything less 💯 ⁣

side note - been shredding this year (with diet breaks/refeeds so not always in a deficit) & my legs are staying a similar size. i used to feel self conscious about them but now i’m just proud of my legs ☺️ they are so strong!! 😍 i work so hard for them to & my body 💪🏽 people ask how to lose f*t on legs to slim them down but when it comes to f*t loss from anywhere on the body...⁣
nutrition + exercise + hardwork + patience and consistency = f*t loss 🔥 you can’t spot reduce legs/back/butt/tummy or anywhere else 👌🏽⁣

What are you eating post comp? 🔥 ⁣⁣
one of my goals post comp was to get a little more creative with my meals. so count this as day 1 of creative anjuli macro fitting foods 🤩 i track everything i eat on the app myfitnesspal & i encourage all of the #anjulifitsquad to do the same as it allows for flexibility with nutrition 🎉 my other goal is to slowly increase calories & start building lean muscle.⁣
1️⃣ baked french toast or bread & butter pudding without the butter 😋 swipe for ingredients/macros - mix the ingredients with a fork and pour over ripped bread 🍞 bake at 180 until cooked 😍 i’m a simple girl 😂⁣
2️⃣ basmati rice with mince and mixed vege - pan fried with coconut oil 🥥 ⁣
3️⃣ 2x cherry tomatoes on bread (or toast lol didn’t want to wait for toast) 🍅 ⁣
4️⃣ manuka honey smoked salmon on brown rice cakes 🍯 ⁣
5️⃣ ⁣lamb steak with fresh stir fried veges - topped with himalayan pink rock salt.⁣
6️⃣ apple crumble 🍏 swipe for recipe - super simple. diced up apple topped with the other ingredients & baked at 180 until apples go soft ☺️⁣

“what do you eat when you shred?” 🔥 ⁣
same things i eat when i’m not shredding but just in different portions ☺️ there are no magic pills or foods that will help you lose the f*t that you have gained over weeks/months/years of overindulging 💯 ⁣

the ultimate keys to f*t loss & results in my opinion are..⁣⁣
caloric control, exercise, consistency, hard work and patience ✔️ ⁣

too many people want results right now. the truth is, if you expect sustainable results to come overnight or in a week & you give up after a few days of trying then you will never achieve your goals 💪🏽 ⁣put in work fitfam, hard work pays off! 💜⁣⁣

1️⃣ beef mince, basmati rice & a pan fried egg 🍳 ⁣
2️⃣ oats, frozen strawberries & hot water - left to soak/defrost with a drizzle of low cal maple syrup 👅 ⁣
3️⃣ roast lamb with baked pumpkin 🎃 this was heavenly! seasoned with italian herbs & himalayan rock salt 🧂 ⁣
4️⃣ ⁣3 eggs with basmati rice 🍚 ⁣

as long as you keep going, you'll keep getting better. and as you get better, you gain more confidence. that alone is success ✨

left: 16/12/2014 at college studying accounting & this was after a trip to thailand ✈️ right: 24/2/2019 3 years out of uni, working full time & loving life 😊

did it take me that long to lose a few kg? no. but it did take me years to find a healthy balance with myself, food & exercise 💪🏽 i’ve now competed twice, done many photo shoots, learned to love myself at all stages of my journey, found a good relationship with food & am currently the strongest i’ve ever been 😍 *tears of joy* 😭

it’s been such a roller coaster but i’m grateful for all of you that have joined my journey without judgement of the highs and lows 😊

i just wanted to remind you to keep going! don’t give up because of how long it will take. the time will pass anyway so you may as well get closer to your goals 🌟
