It’s been a tough week for peter. and now he’s facing a crisis at work. because someone has been continuously downloading hardcore p*********y on one of the work computers. the problem is, peter viewed such material in a one off error of judgement 6 years previously during a desperate dry spell. ⁣

peter is one of a group of 8 employees who lunch nervously before their fate is decided. he initiates crisis mode and picks up the phone to order a domino’s to be delivered to his desk. ⁣

as he mumbles “meat lovers italian crust”, a head turns in his direction. max from accounts. a passive aggressive bully who revels in putting peter down at any opportunity. he lifts his head and stares in peter’s direction with a satanic grin that would make the grinch feel inadequate. ⁣

“i thought you were trying to lose weight peter?... feeling stressed are we? guilty are we?... max stands up and heads to the staff kitchen. he emerges with his eyes focused on peter, clutching a small bag of chocolate raisins and what looks like a bottle of baby sick. “of course you can’t be good like me all the time buddy... you enjoy your pizza whilst i continue to stoke my metabolic engine, remain junk food free and get shredded with protein gainz...” he then sits back, consumes the drink in 17 seconds before devouring the handful of chocolate raisins.⁣

the pizza arrives. peter commences consumption to the soundtrack of max’s revolting snigger. at least until he googles the caloric worth of the pizza compared to max’s snack. he prints out his findings and places them on max’s desk. the skin crawling snigger is replaced by a pathetic whimper which would rival a sad cheese sandwich exposed to a wolf.⁣

the boardroom door opens. peter, mid mouthful turns violently to face his superior and his fate. “max, we’d like to talk to you in private please”. max frantically searches his drawer for a memory stick that is no longer there. suddenly, one world comes crashing down as another becomes oh so bright again. 🍕 .

An evening/night out would be fairly mundane if did not involve some degree of indulgent food and/or alcohol. -
-

but problems may arise if one meticulously tracks calories in accordance with a f*t loss target, only to lose awareness of energy intake on occasions when excessive calories are consumed. -
-

if the frequency of calorie excessive nights out is low, the caloric impact on body composition will follow suit. but regularity of such short term occasions can heavily influence one’s long term body composition.
-
-

whilst a night out is there to be enjoyed, one will likely spend the subsequent 24 hours in a state of fatigue and reduced motivation to move and/or adhere to eating protocols which support their goal. this can extend the unsupportive period.
-
-

if one had a f*t loss calorie target of 1800 calories per day (12600 per week), the above night out calories and subsequent day (consumed in 24 hours) accumulates to around 1/2 of total weekly calories. even if one began meticulously adhering to their 1800 calorie target the next week, they would still be consuming significantly more weekly calories than required. the more this patterns repeats, the more likely that f*t loss becomes much harder and f*t gain becomes much easier.
-
-

as with any change, the key is awareness of action. changing state is as much about recognising critical stages and acting upon them. instead of wondering why no progress is being made, one can become aware of the reason why. then that individual can make sensible adjustments that have the smallest impact on enjoyment, but the biggest impact on progression. -
-

nights out should not be spent in misery, worrying about nutritional values of food/drinks. already being aware of more supportive choices means that regular fun can be had at less detriment to the goal. -
-

to conclude: fewer sides, lower calorie mixers and orgasms may be a better idea than mindless eating, animalistic drinking and 2am kebabs. 🙂

🍌banana 101🍌

🙋🏻‍♀️raise your hand if you love 🍌!! ⠀
they’re a great source of many nutrients, particularly potassium, magnesium, and b6. but really, i eat them bc they’re sooo delicious, convenient, and cheap! ❤️. we eat them almost every single day.

🤔did you ever wonder what happens as they change in color? if so, here you go!

green —> yellow —> brown
as the 🍌ripens:
✅resistant starch content decreases
✅tastes sweeter - resistant starch turns into sugar
✅gets digested easier and quicker (causing a spike in the blood sugar)
✅some of the micronutrient levels decrease - happens with all produce to some degree once harvested
✅antioxidant levels increase

for babies and toddlers, really green #bananas may be too h*****n their little tummies and can cause or make pre-existing constipation worse.

they are a great source of prebiotics though (check out my previous post). i purchase unripe banana and start offering it to caleb when it is predominately yellow with a slight hint of green (as pictured). yellow ones disappear ever so quickly around here, and the brown ones get used for baking 👍.

⏰if you want to speed up the ripening process, place in a brown paper bag. if you want to slow it down then place in the refrigerator. the peel will turn brown but the inner flesh will be just fine.

❤️will you tag a fellow banana lover who might find this helpful?

Posted @withrepost@aidan_the_dietitian i'm massively into the concept of flexible dieting 👍
.
i think people should be fitting in foods they enjoy into an appropriate range of calories, macros and micronutrients for their goals 👌
.
that being said, sometimes choosing energy dense foods isn't doing yourself a favour if you are determined to meet roughly the amount of calories you want. this could leave you feeling hungry/unsatisfied throughout the day, which can make the process wayyy harder than it needs to be 👎
.
even without factoring in micronutrients, basing the majority of your diet on high quality foods that also happen to be lower in calories will most likely make your life more enjoyable if you are trying to meet certain goals ✌️
