peyto lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in cascadia, and to make it even better is how accessible it is for everyone! a quick half mile walk up a paved path reveals this view! •

Places so powerful that they leave you awestruck. i’m happy summer is in full swing and i’ve got some exciting adventures planned. i’m also loving this mixed weather we’ve been having in the pnw, it’s great for hiking and keeping the wildfires away!

What new mountains are you looking to conquer this weekend? getting to the trailhead of mount cheam is half the battle of this hike as you’ll need a 4x4 with high clearance to make it. once you’re there, it’s about 10 kilometres round trip to the top, covering 700 metres in elevation gain. if you don’t have the right car yet, tag a hiking friend who does! #vancouvertrails 📷: @joe_choy

Spend this summer soaking up the sun on the lakeshores of the shuswap. jump into warm waters off the deck of a houseboat or kick back and enjoy the sweet sounds of local musicians. take 1 to 3 days and travel the shuswap loop and explore tsútswecw provincial park, shuswap lake, salmon arm, and sicamous. head to our ig story for trip ideas on where to stop and what to see on this route.

Welcome to telegraph cove. originally built as a frontier lumber mill in the 1920s, the village of telegraph cove on northern vancouver island has transformed former workers’ cabins and offices into accommodation and restaurants. wander the wooden boardwalks and explore the picturesque community built on stilts; be sure to make time for a whale watching adventure too (season runs now until october). there are other waterfront towns nearby worth visiting as well—port mcneill, port hardy, sointula and alert bay are full of character, heritage and indigenous culture. 📷 by @bennnnnnnngie.

These icy blue views greet you after a gruelling 6 kilometre trek uphill (one way) gaining over 1100 metres in elevation to wedgemount lake. you’ll make your way up switch backs, across several boulder fields and a steep scramble at the end before the views finally open up before you. tip: make sure to pack a jacket for the top as it’s often quite cold at the top. #vancouvertrails 📷: @the_traveling_gypsy
